Renting mobility equipment like manual wheelchairs, mobility scooters, power wheelchairs and hospital beds is a low-risk and cost-effective way to get going in times of need.

Mobility Products Available For Rent

Knee Scooters

Knee Scooter, Knee Walker, Rhode Island, Rental, Rentals, Knee Scooter Rentals

Knee scooters, also commonly referred to as knee walkers, are an ideal choice for individuals recovering from foot surgery, breaks, sprains, amputation and ulcers of the foot. Knee walkers can be steered for increased maneuverability. The steering column also folds down for storage and transport. Plus our clients will tell us that they are much more comfortable than using crutches.

Rollators & Standard Walkers

Rolling walkers allow you to safely walk along or sit on the padded seat if you become tired. Standard walkers, or “tennis ball walkers,” are height adjustable and can glide easily over most surfaces.

Manual Wheelchairs

Standard wheelchairs, transport wheelchairs and high-end wheelchairs are all available for rental at Mobility Equipment for Less. Standard manual wheelchairs are self-propelled, meaning they require the person riding in the chair, or a companion in the rear, to move. We have these in bariatric sizes as well. A transport chair is lightweight and easily foldable for storage and transportation. High-end wheelchairs, like Quickie and TiLite, are also available for rent.

Mobility Scooters

Motorized scooters are one of our most popular rental items. We offer both three-wheel and four-wheel options for portable scooters, full size, and heavy duty varieties. Each scooter rental comes with a basket and charger, and instructions from our staff on proper use, including battery maintenance tips. Mobility scooters can get you from A to B in half the time than walking, which makes trips to Newport and events in Providence much easier to attend and much more enjoyable. In addition, week-long fairs such as the Washington County Fair in Richmond and The Big E in Springfield are more easily accessible with a scooter, so call us today at (412) 294-4111 to reserve your rental today.

Power Wheelchairs

Standard (up to 300lbs)

A Standard power wheelchair (or powerchair) like a Pride Jazzy or Hoveround is a fantastic choice for short-term and long-term mobility limitations. Powerchairs like these are very maneuverable and have a weight capacity of up to 300 lbs.

Bariatric (over 300lbs)

A Bariatric power wheelchair is like a standard powerchair with a much higher weight capacity. Our Bariatric power chairs come with weight capacities ranging from 350 to 500 pounds.

Standard Rehab (up to 300lbs with more features)

A Standard rehab power wheelchair like a Quantum Q6 Edge or Permobil C300 has power seating functions like tilt, recline, elevating leg rests and seat elevation that allow the user enough comfort and positioning to be seated in the chair for extended periods of time for most of the day.

Bariatric Rehab (over 300lbs with more features)

A Bariatric Rehab electric wheelchair comes with some or all of the seating functions previously mentioned, only with a much higher weight capacity.

Beach Wheelchairs

A trip to the beach can be out of reach for some of our elderly and disabled clients. Whether just for a day trip or a week-long vacation, we offer affordable rates on our manual beach chair. Don’t let the sand restrict you from the surf and reserve your beach wheelchair rental today!

Medical Products Available For Rent

Patient Lifts & Sit-to-Stands

Invacare Reliant 450 Patient Lift | Battery Powered Remote Controlled Hoyer Lift

Patient lifters are used to provide assistance to users in transferring, whether it be wheelchair-to-bed, bed-to-bath, wheelchair-to-bath, etc. These devices provide many benefits, including reduced risk of injury for the patient and the caregiver. We carry both electric and manual/hydraulic versions of these lifts.

Hospital Beds

Fully electric hospital beds raise and lower the head and feet, as well as electrically adjusting the height of the bed from the floor. Included with the rental is usually a vinyl covered foam mattress for hygienic reasons. Air mattresses are also available upon request.

Lift Chair Recliners

lift chair recliner

A lift chair is a piece of equipment that looks similar to a standard reclining chair, but the difference is that the Lift Chair contains a powerful lifting system which can be used to tilt the base and back of the chair forward, assisting the user in returning to a standing position. The user operates a Lift Chair by pushing buttons on a remote rather than manually engaging a lever or switch.

Portable Ramps

A single-fold or multi-fold ramp helps bridge the gap over steps, curbs and raised landings. Some sizes can even be used with most minivans.

Save Money By Renting Your Equipment

Rentals are another one of the many services that we provide. Mobility Equipment Recyclers is your go-to source for all your rental needs. Renting mobility equipment like manual wheelchairs, mobility scooters, power wheelchairs and hospital beds is a low-risk and cost-effective way to get going in times of need.

Whether you’re vacationing on the beaches of Newport, taking in the fall foliage of New England or simply recovering from an injury or surgery, we offer long and short term rentals on all types of mobility equipment and products. Plus, we’ll deliver right to your hotel or front door so you don't have to worry about picking up or returning your rentals if you don't live near our store.

Renting Vs. Buying

There are lots of benefits for renting a piece of equipment rather than owning one at first, but each situation is different and there is no “one size fits all” approach. In terms of cost, usually it is cheaper to purchase rather than rent depending on the product. For some items, long-term rentals actually cost more than just buying outright from the start.

If you have a condition that may change over time, eventually requiring you to use a different type of wheelchair, renting may be the way to go — especially for occasional usage.

We offer month-to-month rental options, so as your situation changes then we can easily adapt on the fly. For long-term rentals, prepayment from the start of a term will get you a much better rate.

Rental Rates & Policies

Please call 401-294-4111 or contact us for pricing. Rates are subject to availability, and delivery/pickup charges will apply if needed. Emergency service can be available upon request as well. Items must be returned in a reasonably clean fashion. Additional charges will apply if returned defective, dirty, soiled, smoke-damaged or damaged in general. Additional labor charges may apply if rented product requires special customization, parts/accessories, etc. A rental agreement must be signed prior to or upon delivery or pickup. Multi-month rentals must be paid in full at the time of rental start date in order to get discount.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What do I need in order to book a rental?

Answer: To book a rental we need to have stored on file a valid government-issued identification card, and payment must be received in the form of a debit or credit card. Payment is due prior to delivery or upon in-store pickup. And when you call in to book a reservation, please have basic information about the user and rental details readily available, for instance: age, height, weight, condition, prior experience with rental item, vacation dates, hotel check-in/check-out times, etc — any and all information that you feel would be helpful for our staff to determine the proper equipment that is needed.

Question: How much notice do you need for a rental?

Answer: If you are picking up in-store then we do not need much notice at all. If a delivery is required, it is best to contact us one week prior to your desired delivery date.

Question: If I rent something from you and want to purchase it at the end of my rental term, do you have any rent-to-buy options?

Answer: Yes! 75% percent of the rental amount paid will be applied to the final purchase price.

Question: Where do you deliver to?

Answer: Homes, apartments, airports, hotels, wedding venues and more! Our delivery fee is based mostly on the distance that we need to travel to deliver, but generally speaking we will deliver rental items within a one-hour radius of our storefront in North Kingstown.

Question: I have a late check-in time at my hotel and it is past your store hours, what can I do?

Answer: Don’t worry! We can have the scooter or other device waiting for you at the front desk when you do arrive.
