In the News: "Business that Refurbishes Scooters, Wheelchairs Gives Gift of Mobility"

Thank you to Donita Naylor and Kathy Borchers of The Providence Journal for their kind article about us on December 25, 2014: this helps to spread the word about the continuing need for mobility in New England - and thank you to Swipe for a Cause for bringing us to their attention.

"A Middletown, R.I., woman received the gift of freedom Tuesday when two people showed up at her door and gave her an electric scooter. John Perrotti, of Jamestown, owner of Power Chair Recyclers of New England, said he borrowed his father’s truck and, with friend Warren Hagist, delivered the refurbished scooter, complete with new batteries, to her home.

They also delivered a power wheelchair to a woman in Stratford, Conn. Perrotti learned of the woman, who asked not to be named, through another North Kingstown business, Swipe for a Cause.

It’s a discount provider of credit-card processing services, and he’s one of its customers.

The woman, he learned, had been turned down by Medicare and Medicaid and had reached out to nonprofits. She wasn’t getting anywhere. 'I just couldn't stand to see somebody who is trying to seek all this help' go without, he said Wednesday.

Perrotti’s store, at 7446 Post Rd., in North Kingstown, sells and repairs wheelchairs, power chairs, scooters, medical beds, patient lifts and parts. He has two employees, shop manager Kyle Lee-Medeiros and mechanic Joe Pinhero, both of Jamestown."
